Handy Hints for moving day!

BEFORE MOVING DAY

Arrange the date as far in advance as possible and keep your mover informed. We can accept provisional bookings and we try to keep you informed of availability. To guarantee a reservation, you must pay a deposit.

Make sure you are aware of the service you have asked for. You wouldn’t want your mover to turn up short-handed, without packing materials or even the wrong size lorry. Check your quotation.

Tell us if there are any access difficulties at either property, if we have not viewed. These include narrow streets, overhanging trees, unmade roads, small doorways, spiral staircases etc. Also ensure that the Traffic Wardens department is informed if our removal lorry is going to block the public highway.

We have a pet carrier. If it is required, please let us know so we can bring it on the day.

If you have told the estimator that certain items were not going, either to be left behind or disposed of, with the best will in the world, you may not have had enough time to do that. Make sure we know otherwise we may not send a big enough lorry.

Our staff can perform the basic disconnection and re connection of appliances, including modern bayonet gas fittings (but not light fittings). Our men are not qualified plumbers/electricians so anything more involved than this will require a tradesman. We can disconnect electric cookers but we cannot reconnect. Our removal men can dismantle and reassemble furniture ie: beds wardrobes, grandfather clocks etc, but we will need to know, in advance, to enable us to plan the removal properly.

Carpets and curtains – our men can take down curtains and roll carpets, by prior arrangement (check your quotation) but we cannot rehang curtains or relay fitted carpets.
